Wish List
Here is our list of items that we really need in Kapchorwa. Please contact Jonathan before making any large purchases to ensure that they are not duplicated. Thank you in advance for your continuted support.
- A multi-channel audio recording interface, USB or Fire-Wire. (for connecting microphones and instruments to a computer) Can be PC (USB only) or Mac. This will be used primarily for doing live mass choir recordings, so we really want as many channels simultaneous as possible (12 or 16?) - Cost: ?
- Final Cut Express video editing software. Cost: $199 (To be used in Kapchorwa studio for creating health education video within cultural context, leadership training videos, ministry documentary, etc.) Amazon.com - $149
- Logic Express audio recording/editing software. Cost: $199 (To be used to support above ministries as well as recording indigenous gospel music for local consumption)
- Studio monitor speakers. Cost: ? (To be used for above ministries) - Amazon - $50-$200
- PDA – prefer APPLE iPod touch, 2nd generation. Dream of having 2, one for Ugandan co-worker – (To be used for project management and coordination, on-the-fly notes and monitoring, scheduling and management, etc., and to keep us scattered heads in working order.) - Long-distance walkie-talkies (need some decent range to counter the mountainous, rocky terrain) Cost:? (To be used for even coordination: training seminars for leaders, large-scale trainings for health volunteer system, and really large scale event management with conferences, etc.) - Amazon.com - $30-$200
- Violin – decent quality, for Ugandan student. Cost:?
- Reading glasses. As many pair as possible. We can use hundreds, all strengths, from +1.00 up to +3.50. They can often be purchased for about $1 from local dollar stores. Many of our literacy students are being held back by a lack of reading glasses, and most of our pastors need them to read the Bible.
We also need to purchase some things in Uganda with cash, somewhat urgently. So it’s more a virtual shopping list. These items include:
- New perscription glasses for Jonathan (cost in Uganda: about $200)
- New prescription sunglasses for Jonathan (cost in Uganda: about $150) (to replace pair lost in Oak Harbor)
- A Hot water heater for Kapchorwa house (it’s cold up there!) Cost: about $200
- Refrigerator for Kapchorwa house (it’s not that cold up there) Cost: about $600
- Small Generator for working at home, Kapchorwa. Cost: about $300
- Large Diesel Generator for Kapchorwa main office. Cost: about $1200 (power is so frequently out there that some work comes to a standstill)
