Mission

Development Companions International provides local Christian Churches in developing countries with training and program development assistance so they may improving their communities.

CURRENT PROGRAM

DCI's current active program is being run by Jonathan Beggs an American from Seattle who is our Ugandan Ministry Director. Our programs in Uganda are currently working on the Kapchorwa region. Kapchorwa is a rural region of in Eastern Uganda, high on the slopes of Mount Elgon. Mount Elgon is an extinct volcano and the third highest peak on the Afrrican Continent, it sits astride the Uganda / kenyan border.

The name “Kapchorwa” means “the place of friends”. These friends, numbering more than 250,000, follow a lifestyle of cattle keeping and farming.

In the 1970’s the gospel was received by a few young people who began the Perfection Church & Ministry (PCM), which has now grown to over 60 churches.

WHAT'S GOING ON

This completely indigenous body of believers has fought against harmful traditional practices and religious beliefs like women's genital mutilation and ritual tooth extraction. Despite deep poverty

WHAT’S POSSIBLE

The communities in Kapchorwa face many struggles as they enter the 21st Century. The church, well placed in rural areas throughout the district, is ideally suited to being a force of positive change, for believers and also as a witness to the entire community. But without any direct connection to the wider body of Christ around the world, local resources are not enough to make this happen.

The leadership of the PCM have asked that we partner with them in enabling these churches and their communities to move forward to develop and change their lives to reach their potential. As the world around Kapchorwa changes at an ever faster rate, the churches of the PCM can guide a transition in a Godly way.

WHAT’S NEEDED

The PCM leadership has prioritized the needs, as one thing builds upon another. In order to meet all the complex needs of the church as it grows and of the community as it moves into a new era, the following areas must first be addressed:

* Leadership Training
* Literacy Training
* Community Health Care
